About GigRate

GigRate is an independent, advertising-supported website. Freelancers and independent contractors have to price work, invoice clients and set aside tax money without a payroll department. We build simple calculators and guides for those recurring jobs.

What we publish

A freelance rate calculator, a browser-based invoice generator, a self-employment tax estimator, an hourly-to-salary converter, and guides on pricing and quarterly taxes.

How we research

Tax examples cite IRS publications for self-employment tax and estimated payments. We do not invent tax rates. Pricing guidance is educational, not a guarantee of what clients will pay. Every figure that comes from a third party is linked at the bottom of the page where it is used, and every page shows when it was last reviewed. If a carrier, retailer or organisation changes its published information, the official source wins over anything on this site.

How the tools work

Calculators and the invoice tool run in your browser. Figures and client details you type are not sent to our servers.

How we make money

GigRate shows advertising (Google AdSense) and does not accept payment from insurers, brokers, banks or any company in exchange for coverage in our guides. We do not sell leads, and we do not sell or recommend any specific insurance policy or financial product.

Corrections

If you spot an error, tell us through the contact page. We correct factual mistakes quickly and update the “last updated” date when we do.
